Antarctica is a very cold place at the bottom of the world. It is covered in thick ice and white snow for most of the year. Strong winds blow, and the air feels sharp and chilly. Some animals live there, such as penguins and seals, and they are used to the cold. People do not live there all the time, but some visit to learn about the land. Later, the sun can shine for many hours, even though the place stays cold.
